About Me

Hi, my name is Jorge (as you might already know) and I’m from Miami, Florida. I’m Cuban-American and look to honor my cultura and familia in every aspect of my life, including my career.

I’m currently a first-year graduate student at the University of Southern California pursuing a Master of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising. The coursework, professional network, and guidance I have received throughout my journey at USC has been astonouishing, allowing me to further grow in my professional career.

I received my bachelor’s degree in spring 2024 from the University of Florida, with a focus in Media Production, Management, and Technology. This degree gave me an comprehensive view of the telecommunications world and its various aspects, including TV, radio, and sports broadcast metrics. My studies aided my role as a Strategist at The Agency at UF, a student-run advertising agency within the University of Florida, where I gained valuable experience working with real-world clients. In my role, I evaluated social media insights using analytical software and social listening tools to develop client strategies and insights for our accounts. This experience gave me the skill sets needed to translate quantitative data into qualitative strategies to gauge social media responses and tailor them to the consumer.

During my time there, I worked directly with Sony Pictures International Productions to help lead students in creating the theatrical release strategy for American-ish, a film co-written and directed by University of Florida professor Iman Zawahry. Thanks to my leadership and work from the team, the film received critical success and was extended over three times in theaters across the United States.

To further develop my passion for social media strategy, I participated in a summer 2023 internship program at República Havas, an advertising agency based in Miami, FL. During my program, I worked with the strategy team to deliver insight-driven brand strategies for clients, conduct primary research, and present insights to clients and the agency staff. As part of this internship, I worked alongside brands like Nickelodeon and Air Wick while learning more about the industry and shifting between client asks. This experience taught me the importance of working in a fast-paced and communicative environment, which I believe is vital to the success of a thriving agency/firm when dealing with numerous client asks and deadlines.
